Italy, Albania, and UAE Forge €1 Billion Clean Energy Alliance
In a landmark move toward sustainable energy, Italy, Albania, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a trilateral agreement to develop renewable energy projects in Albania, with the generated power transmitted to Italy via an undersea cable. The deal, valued at approximately €1 billion, was announced during Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to Abu Dhabi.
Under the agreement, the UAE will leverage its expertise to establish solar, wind, and other renewable energy facilities in Albania. A portion of this clean energy will be exported to Italy, enhancing the country’s energy security and aiding in meeting its climate commitments.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted the strategic significance of the partnership, noting its role in bolstering regional cooperation and economic development. He estimated the project’s value at around €1 billion.
This trilateral cooperation exemplifies the potential of international partnerships in advancing clean energy initiatives and addressing global climate challenges.
